Disconnector is a device which is installed between the bottom of arrester and ground. If an intensive current, except the wave-shaped currents caused by lightning and switching, passes through this device, it will explode and disconnect the connection between surge arrester and ground.
in other words, the defective arrester will be separated from electrical network and is prohibited from short circuit of network to ground. Some disconnectors equipped with an observable indicator are meant to ensure the definite disconnection of earthing system.
